13 may 2015 - Wiedeń, Karlsplatz. Widok mieszanych składów Wiedeńskiej Kolei Dojazdowej był dla mnie sporym zaskoczeniem. Z tego co wykryłem około 2013 roku GT8 przeszły przenumerowanie, skrócono z 4-1xx do samego 1xx. Na zdjęciu skład 101+404.

7 may 2007 - Baden, Austria – Josefsplatz. Another view of the Baden dead-end terminal station – directly on the street and well placed to serve the whole town. WLB cars 4-112 (left) and 4-111 wait to start their journeys to central Wien. These two trams are actually identical, but a slightly different paint scheme makes them look different.

7 may 2007 - Guntramsdorf (AT) – Feldgasse. Another train bound for Baden fills the tiny street – this is a public road, not a private tram track. As one of these huge tram-trains rolls by in each direction every few minutes, you have to be quite brave to drive your car along here! The local people must be quite used to it, though……

7 may 2007 - Baden, Austria – Kaiser-Franz-Josef-Ring. Directly on leaving the WLB terminus, trams run into the centre of the street. Compared to city trams, these are very large and imposing vehicles – inside, they have wide, comfortable seats and tables for the long ride into central Wien. Until a few years ago, you could buy coffee or beer as you travelled.

2011 - Baden (AT) – Josefsplatz. The tight little terminus in central Baden, at the ‘country’ end of this classic interurban line. There is just room for two train sets and nothing more. The high-floor/low-floor combination is normal for this line, until they get another batch of low-floor cars – then these lovely, classic trams will be gone.

7 may 2007 - Baden, AT - Waltersdorfer Strasse: Another WLB train sweeps out of Baden on a gutter-running single track section. These trams run about every fifteen minutes throught the day and, regardless of other traffic and pedestrians, travel really fast and people know to get out of the way. As well as their passenger operations, the Lokalbahn also has a thriving freight business and other activities.

28 august 2013 - Wiedeń, Lokalbahn-Betriebsbahnhof Wolfganggasse. Dzisiaj będzie co nieco na temat kolei badeńskiej. Niestety, nosa poza Wiedeń praktycznie nie wyściubiłem (mało czasu, miesiąc to naprawdę mało czasu), więc z autopsji znam dość małą część z 30 km linii. WLB jest osobnym podmiotem miejskim, który współpracuje z VOR, korzysta z torów Wiener Linien w centrum miasta, a na odcinku podmiejskim spełnia rolę szybkiego tramwaju/lekkiej kolei. Pomimo nadanego numeru 515, wszyscy używają oznaczenia opisowego linii - "Lokalbahn nach Baden" lub "Badner Bahn"; używane jest też w tym celu logo WLB (np. na wyświetlaczach przystankowych). Zachowana jest dość spora częstotliwość - nawet 7,5 min. w szczycie. Przedsiębiorstwo ma własną zajezdnię, która leży stosunkowo blisko centrum - w Meidling na zapleczu terenów kolejowych.

23 march 2011 - Wien (AT) - remise/zajezdnia Wolfganggasse. One of the classic WLB interurban trams stands at a WLB depot. Bigger and faster than similar Wien city trams, these have given excellent service and are only recently beginning to be replaced by new, low floor monstrosities.

22 march 2011 - Wien, AT - remise Wolfganggasse: One of the lovely SGP trams from the Wiener Lokalbahn in the depot yard. This depot and the line that served it were all swept away recently, and maybe the tram has followed - I don`t know. Anyway, I consider them among the finest vehicles to run on any tramway in Europe and will be very sad when the last one is scrapped.

The classic Wien-Baden interurban (as its name suggests) runs from the small town of Baden, along high speed reserved tracks and then via the Wien tram subways to the city streets. The line runs every 15 minutes and carries over 30,000 passengers each day. This is the stub terminus in Baden.

7 may 2007 - Baden, AT - Kaiser-Franz-Joseph-Ring: A WLB train sweeps along the centre of the road on this single-line, street running section of the line from Baden. Car drivers don`t argue with these huge trams which really are the `King of the Road` in places shared with normal traffic. Each two-car train is joined by a newer low-floor Bombardier tram, which are gradually taking over all services as more are delivered.

7 may 2007 - Wien, AT - Guntramsdorf, Feldgasse: A little bit of nonsense on a street-running section of the Wiener Lokalbahn in the village of Guntramsdorf. Here, the line runs down a public residential street and the mirror is intended to give drivers a fighting chance of avoiding being wiped out by 100 tonnes of flying tramcar.

10 august 2013 - Wiedeń, Kärtner Straße. Kolejka badeńska zagłębia się w centrum miasta korzystając z wiedeńskiej sieci tramwajowej jedzie przez Philadelphiabrücke, tunel premetra i Wiedner Hauptstraße aż dojeżdża do Ringu. Stąd blisko do metra, opery i na Innere Stadt, którego główną dominantą jest widoczny w tle "Steffl", czyli wieża Katedry św. Stefana.

28 august 2013 - Wiedeń, Eichenstraße. Okolice zajezdni WLB nie należą do najciekawszych. Mieszkańcy oprócz standardowych problemów z tramwajami i pociągami, mogą też mieć taką atrakcję, jak stacja benzynowa na parterze kamienicy: foto1, foto2.

7 may 2007 - Baden (AT) – Melkergrunde. As soon as it reaches the Baden town limits, the WLB leaves the streets and becomes an express tramway on private tracks to the edge of Wien. American interurbans of the early 1900s were exactly like this, but almost all traces of these have now gone, killed off by better roads and the growth of car ownership.

8 may 2007 - Wien (AT) – Oper. The Wien terminus of the WLB is here at Oper, alongside the famous Ring. This is a very central and convenient place for passengers, but also very cramped – a two car WLB train can only just fit into the terminal siding. The right hand track is used by city trams.

8 may 2007 - Wien, AT - Karlsplatz/Oper: Today I show my favourite tram system, the wonderful Wien-Baden Lokalbahn, which I regard as the finest interurban line in all Europe. Starting from this cramped little terminus in a side street along the busy Ringstrasse (where there is barely enough room for the normal two-car train), the line shares tracks with city trams for some distance, eventually gaining its own private line for the fast run to Baden. These huge 1980s SGP trams, complete with tables at each seat, are greadually being withdrawn and replaced by less photogenic low-floor models.
