Articulated buses are rare here in the UK, but this tourist attractions can be so busy that the buses used here have to be capable of carrying large numbers of people over short distances. Therefore, articulated buses are ideal. The previous operator of this contract, Truronian, also used Mercedes Citaro types. When First South West first took on this Park & Ride service they attempted to use Volvo B7LA vehicles from elsewhere, but they were not powerful enough to climb hills. Therefore, this is one of a number of Citaro types transferred from elsewhere in the First Group.
