11 april 1956 - Baienfurt (DE)- Baienfurt Sud. More rare photos, this time of a long-vanished and little-known metre-gauge tramway in Germany. The 6.5km long Lokalbahn Ravensburg-Weingarten-Baienfurt ran from 1888 until 1959 and was electrified in 1911. After World War II, it became the only tramway owned and operated by the German Federal Railways. Here, one of the large and imposing bogie trams runs through Baienfurt village – these had a Ganz look about them, but were actually built by Maschinenfabrik Esslingen in 1910 and lasted until the end.
