8 november 1959 - Duesseldorf (DE) – Paulistrasse. The Rhein-Ruhr tramway network is still pretty impressive, but it was once the largest in the world, with countless standard- and metre-gauge tracks linking all the industrial towns and cities. Today, many have been upgraded to U-Bahn or S-Bahn operation. I guess these were built in the early 1930s - probably by Duewag, who had their main works in the city. They would have been the latest design then......
This was the metre-gauge network that Rheinbahn of Düsseldorf ran between Benrath and neighbouring towns. These trams were a batch of 14 built by DÜWAG 1936 and they ran till the closure of Rheinbahn's metre-gauge lines in 1962 before being sold to Aachen and the Austrian operator Stern & Hafferl. Another member of the batch survives at the BMB museum in Wuppertal.
