Dwujezdniowa droga miała kiedyś być fragmentem trasy Lublin - Hrubieszów, ale obecnie kończy się za garażami i jest coraz bardziej zaniedbana (nawet chodnik po jednej stronie niemal całkowicie zarósł trawą). Te niskie bloki to nie przypadek, ponieważ w Chełmie nie ma wieżowców mieszkalnych. Miasto jest bowiem położone na pokładach kredy.
