15 september 2018 - Kiev, Ukraine - Podilske tramway depot: Back on the west side system, here is one of two "AB" numbered trams in the Kiev works car fleet. I assume that the designation tells you what these trams are designed for - my guess is that they are towing cars to pull broken down trams around the network? That would explain the extra bank of resistances on the roof, where they are cooled by the outside air.

Yes, these are exactly towing cars. AV (AB in Cyrillic) stands for "avaryinyi" - an adjective derived from the word `avariya` = road accident, breakdown, failure etc.
