21 february 2010 - Egypt, Alexandria - Midal el Tahrir: Despite the crazy Egyptian traffic, the coastal city and port of Alexandria retains its faith in tramways and now has the only operating system in the country, with more replacement cars now arriving from Germany. Here, a two-car train of Kinki Sharyo trams does battle with all kinds of other vehicles, all competing for any road space they can get. The raised observation tower on the corner is interesting - traffic control? I don`t think so....! Note that this batch of trams are equipped only with trolley poles - the significance of this is explained in my next photo.

Yep, that`s interesting to learn. Some time ago, I entered the data for those trams based on German fleet lists, but I couldn`t really find any pictures showing their regular service in Alexandria - now I know why
