Dzięki igrzyskom, Ateny zyskały unowocześnioną komunikacje miejską (nowe autobusy, trolejbusy oraz nową linię tramwajową wraz taborem i zajezdnią) oraz infrastrukturę (czyli autostrady i wyremontowane drogi).
