6 september 2008 - Darmstadt, Germany – depot/zajezdnia Elberstadt Frankenstein. “And now for something completely different” – as Monty Python used to say. The HEAG tramway operator in Darmstadt has obtained this small, metre gauge locomotive and various passenger carriages in order to recreate a typical German roadside steam tramway. The tram runs regularly for parties and enthusiast groups. Here, it waits to start a trip along interurban Line 8 to Alsbach.

6 september 2008 - Darmstadt, Germany – Heidelberger Strasse. The steam tram in a typical roadside location. Darmstadt had steam trams on several routes until 1922, before electrification. The locomotive is Henschel 17218 of 1919, incidentally.
