The company became part of the National Bus Company. In the 1980s United was split in two, a Northumbria operation and a County Durham, North Yorkshire and Teesside operation. In 1992 United was sold to Westcourt Group, in 1995 to National Express and in 1996 to Cowie Group. The operations eventually became Arriva North East. | |||
