Alexander Dennis Enviro 300 II #27182

29 august 2017 - Nottingham, Mansfield Road.

Optare MetroCity #YJ15 AXF

2 june 2017 - Sudbrooke Lane, Nettleham. Seen here heading back to Nettleham village to commence the 1100 to Lincoln is this PC Coaches Optare MetroCity (YJ15AXF). This vehicle was used on the temporary Lincoln Castle P&R service along with Solo SR`s and Wright Streetlites: some, if not all, of which have now been absorbed in to the PC Coaches service fleet, usurping older vehicles and allowing expansion in to Louth. Having had a ride on this yesterday, I was most impressed by the ride and build quality: it shames the Nottingham Community Transport BYD eBus I sampled the day before!

2 june 2017 - Sudbrooke Lane, Nettleham. Seen here arriving at it`s terminus and turning point prior to commencement of the 1100 to Lincoln is this PC Coaches Optare MetroCity (YJ15AXF). This vehicle was used on the temporary Lincoln Castle P&R service along with Solo SR`s and Wright Streetlites: some, if not all, of which have now been absorbed in to the PC Coaches service fleet, usurping older vehicles and allowing expansion in to Louth. Scania L94UB / Wright Solar #NC06 PCC

20 february 2015 - Church Street, Nettleham. Roadworks in Lincoln City Centre were delaying all buses serving this nearby village, but this independent operator retained their loyal local passengers in the face of stiff competition from Stagecoach.

Alexander Dennis Enviro 400 #19072

21 july 2014 - East Street, Nettleham. Stagecoach have a mixture of Scania/Enviro400 and all-Alexander Dennis Enviro400s branded for InterConnect work in Lincolnshire. Here is an example of the latter, which started life in Manchester.

MAN 18.220 HOCL-NL / Alexander ALX300 #22272

21 july 2014 - Teal Park Road, Lincoln. Seen here passing the recently built waste incinerator near North Hykeham as it works a variation of the intense 44/66 loop of local services.

Alexander Dennis Enviro 400 #19124

17 may 2014 - Broadgate, Lincoln. With much better weather than my last visit, I couldn`t resist recreating a photo with the massive and beautiful cathedral in the background. However, this time I went one step further and waited for this particular vehicle, which Stagecoach have painted in this vivid livery. The livery is particularly apt here as it is a stylised version of the county flag of Lincolnshire.

Scania L94UB / Wright Solar #NC06 PCC

30 january 2014 - Lindum Road, Lincoln. I am always more interested in what small, independent operators have to offer in the cities of the UK which are usually dominated by large, corporate operators. PC Coaches fit the bill nicely and link the city to villages where big companies struggle to find profit, but smaller operators with lower overheads can stand a better chance. They also use a fleet of impressively modern vehicles, and the Wright/Scania combination is rare outside of big operators.

Optare Solo M1020 #47398

30 january 2014 - Monks Road, Lincoln. Soon after purchasing the Lincolnshire RoadCar business along with the Traction Group, Stagecoach set about a fleet renewals program. One of the first batches to arrive included this Optare Solo, of the unusual maximum length M1020 variety. In 2011 Stagecoach used this batch of vehicles to experiment with bio-methane power, which they were converted to run on. The cost of conversion was covered by Lincolnshire county council and the East Midlands Development Agency.

Mercedes-Benz 411 CDI / Koch #BU06 CVD

30 january 2014 - Lindum Road, Lincoln. PC Coaches run a frequent service from the city centre and station to the Cathedral, which is elevated some way above the city and situated on such a steep hill that some people may find hard to walk to it. For this service there are a small number of these nimble little Mercedes Sprinters: the mountain goat of the UK bus industry!

Alexander Dennis Enviro 400 #19124

30 january 2014 - Lindum Road, Lincoln. Stagecoach have painted this vehicle in a completely different scheme to the usual corporate "swoops". This livery is a stylised version of the Lincolnshire county flag, and in my personal opinion looks fantastic. It is refreshing to see a local identity with local meaning and still very colourful.

TransBus President #18047

30 january 2014 - Broadgate, Lincoln. Relatively rare within the Stagecoach group is the Transbus President body, of which only a few low-height versions were ordered. Despite the terrible weather, I thought the rich red brick of the building helped lift the atmosphere a little here.

Volvo Olympian / Alexander RH #16143

30 january 2014 - Lindum Road, Lincoln. As these vehicles are not compliant with Disability Discrimination Act regulations, they are now becoming a rare sight before they are outlawed from regular bus services completely in 2017. As replacements and newer outcasts from London flood the country, sights like this are becoming rare. There is a concentration of these vehicles in Lincolnshire, but investment is apace among the single deck fleet, so I suspect these have little time left now.

Volvo Olympian / Alexander RH #16136

30 january 2014 - Melville Street, Lincoln. Social club buildings are now a rare sight, especially in the south of the UK. Therefore it was a pleasant surprise to see such a building still in good repair on a visit north, though I am not sure if it is still used as originally intended. Either way, it makes for a pleasant backdrop to another rapidly declining british tradition: the Olympian double decker, now being replaced by low-floor vehicles which will be mandatory from 2017.

Scania N230UD / Alexander Dennis Enviro 400 #15808

30 january 2014 - Broadgate, Lincoln. Unfortunately the day of my visit was blighted by terrible weather: biting cold winds and misty rain which spoiled the spectacular views of Lincoln Cathedral, seen here in the background still. Roll on summer!

Optare Solo M950 #PC09 PCC

30 january 2014 - St Mary`s Street, Lincoln. Bringing a little colour to the city is this vehicle, worked by independent operator PC Coaches on a small network of routes linking Lincoln to local villages. PC Coaches bus services are not all allocated a service number.

Alexander Dennis Enviro 400 #19076

30 january 2014 - St Mary`s Street, Lincoln. Stagecoach are also a customer for the integral Enviro 400 product, not just on the Scania chassis. The integral versions are fewer in number through the group and tend to be used on shorter distance routes compared to the Scania mounted vehicles carrying the same body.

Scania N230UD / Alexander Dennis Enviro 400 #15508

30 january 2014 - St Mary`s Street, Lincoln. The Scania N230UD is the Stagecoach standard type for double-deck vehicles working longer distance routes. The Lincolnshire Interconnect network of inter-urban services are indeed longer distance, and this is reflected by the specification of these vehicles.

Dennis Dart SLF / Plaxton Mini Pointer 2 #33151

30 january 2014 - High Street, Lincoln.

Scania N113/East Lancs #K 412 MSL

9 august 2010 - Lincoln (UK) - Melville Street bus station. PC Coaches is another independent operator of bus services to the little towns and villages around Lincoln. This bus is unusual - most Scania N113 chassis of this type were bodied as double-deck vehicles.

Bova Futura FHD 12 #274 FYP

2010 - Lincoln (UK) - Melville Street bus station. This exact coach was made as a scale model. Here, it has brought a load of grannies on a day trip - if it has come all the way to Lincoln from Woods's base on the south coast, no doubt it will have stopped every hour, so they can all get off for a pee.

Optare Solo M950 #YJ 05 JXL

9 august 2010 - Lincoln (UK) - Bus station, Melville Street. One of several independent companies that run coaches, school runs and the odd bus service in this thinly-populated part of England. The bigger bus companies can't make much money here, so tend to leave the business to these small operators.

Volvo B7TL / Wright Eclipse Gemini #FX 06 AOB

9 august 2010 - Lincoln (UK) - Broadgate. Amazingly, this is the first TWB photo of a bus from this operator (now a major Stagecoach company). This coach-seated Volvo is branded for the long route from Skegness, nearly two hours away.
