The delivery of new Combinos to Erfurt, Germany in 2004/5 made a large fleet of KT4D trams redundant and these were sold to other operators, including Tallinn - it is clear from this photo that they were still in excellent condition. Here, ex-EVAG 449 waits to be returned to service (still displaying Erfurt route destinations!). The wheels have already been re-gauged from metre gauge to 1067mm.

27 may 2006 - Tallinn, Eesti/Estonia – Mere Puiestee. Line 1. A Tatra KT4D extended in 2004 with a low-floor centre section, making it into a KTNF6. The wheels carrying the new centre section are really tiny – just like those on a skateboard.

Five are in service in Tallinn, although during my visit one was hiding - as any troll would do.

This bus is unlikely to run again unless a (rich) sponsor is found, but would be fantastic if restored to working order. At the present time, it seems that only fire engines and military vehicles in the collection stand a real chance of being restored – more money and more volunteers are badly needed.

This very stylish bus was operated by Tallinna Autobussipargist and came to the museum site in 2004, where there is a large and extremely varied collection of vehicles, including several buses and a Tallinn Tatra T4 tram. Open-air storage in the harsh Estonian climate is a big problem, though.
