FVV CSM4 #489

15 august 2015 - Debrecen, Csemete utca. DKV`s newest preserved tram on a "wedding ride" :) Actually, this is not the original 489, it was scrapped. They changed numbers with 491.

Ikarus 284.00 #BPY-149

7 march 2015 - Debrecen, István út. Almost all of the former citybuses have been scrapped since DKV is the new operator in Debrecen, but fortunately these two special Ikarus are still living and waiting for the resurrection. BKV would like to buy BPY-150 (seen on the left), because this bus was running in the capital city in the `80s for more than one year, but they couldn`t agree with Hajdú Volán. So an other Ikarus 284 was purchased (JOY-222) and hopefully it will be restored this year.

1 march 2015 - Budapest, Pesterzsébet, Ady Endre tér. It would be good to see more of these buses as new ones, but unfortunately they are extremely expensive, so there is no chance to this.

Ikarus 405.05 #LZZ-332

1 march 2015 - Budapest, Andrássy út. An other interesting creature from BKV, which shouldn`t exist: the pimped 405. In 1995 next to the normal Ikarus midis, two special version were bought to carry disabled persons on special, some kind of "house-to-house" routes. The buses have an about 1,5 metres long low floor part at the second door, so it is possible to access with wheelchair, altough the door are very narrow. Both buses were scrapped a few years ago, but the resurrection came in 2014: one of them got new engine, new gearbox, air conditioner, tinted glasses, new color, new displays, new registration plate, and of course this ugly new face. His brother is under renovation now...

Ikarus 415.04 #MZE-415

1 march 2015 - Budapest, Andrássy út. Fortunately, the historic fleet of BKV is growing: this old Ikarus 415 was presented today, on the occassion of the `100th anniversary of the Budapest bus traffic`.

Ikarus 412.81 GT #720

1 march 2015 - Budapest, Hero`s square. Actually, this is the newest trolleybus of Budapest in this pic. As you might know, Ikarus 412 series is not so successfull in our capital city because of their weak bodyframe, that`s why BKV started to scrap them quite early. But they had a crazy idea: let`s make trolleybus of them! A brand new bodyframe needed to be constructed and built, the traction motor and other electronic parts came from a formerly scrapped Ikarus 280.94 (GVM). Additionaly, it is equipped with air conditioners and batteries, so it can run a few kilometres without wire too. An other one (with number 721) is under construction, but the future of this project is an issue, because new Solaris trolleybuses will arrive in this year, so hopefully there will be no need this kind of `home-made` vehicles in long term.

16 july 2004 - Berettyójfalu, bus terminal. When I took this picture ten years ago, I would never believe that one time this vehicle will be a trolleybus in Budapest :) Yes, it`s true: BKV wants to build a trolley of this to teach the new drivers, so it won`t be in passenger service. The electrical equipment will come from a scrapped Ik 280T (GVM).

Ikarus 280.40A (Gyors) #BPO-449

30 august 2014 - Folyás. This is the last bus in this livery, the others got usual black-grey colors and as far as I know one of them was scrapped. The letters of "7-173 Gyors" are made of magnets, so they can be easily removed. (The bus wears them only at special ocassions, because these routes don`t exist anymore.)

Ikarus V127 V2 PKD #PKD-003

30 august 2014 - Polgár, Arcehopark. After almost one and a half decade, brand new Ikarus buses are coming to the capital city of Hungary again. Three V127 are already on roads and further 15 will arive until the end of this year. These buses are purchased in Partially Knocked Down construction, this means the cassis is built at Budapest, Mátyásföld in a former Ikarus plant and BKV completes it in one of their own garage.

MAN NL283 Lion`s City #MRP-052

24 april 2014 - The passenger`s compartment has some strange solution, like this one in the picture. Additionaly, only a few seats are on the floor and there aren`t enough handrails - BKK don`t know how to specificate buses :/

MAN NL283 Lion`s City #MRP-05

26 april 2014 - Tököl, airport. Unfortunately just a few buses could be seen in Tököl because there was an other busfest in Zsámbék only one day before... Anyway, the hungarian bus market almost died; most of the Volán companies are still not allowed to buy new (or used) vehicles, most of the private companies don`t have money to buy new vehicles... But after long-long years quite a lot new buses will enter service in Budapest: 106 MAN Lion`s City and 61 Volvo 7900A, all of them will be operated by Volánbusz.
