  Yes, they are fitted with chopper controls and 40 vehicles are still in service in Edmonton.

  The one behind it had a late 1940s chassis and was fitted with a new body in the early 70s. It lasted until 1992.

  No, steel bodies rust out from the salt used in the winter and they didn't want to spend the money on new electrics. One problem they had in Toronto were electrical spikes from the Flyers caused feedback and damaged the HR150G controls if they were following too closely.

  Absolutely none. Some people want to get rid of the streetcars as well, including at least 1 prominent radio personality. The future seems to be CNG or diesel-hybrids.

  Vancouver are getting new articulated trolleys, Edmonton's are getting a bit old (these 1982 models are still running). There was about a dozen in Ontario and they have now all gone.
