ME GT4 #81

27 july 2004 - Nordhausen, Bahnhofstrasse. In 2004, some services were still being worked by pretty little GT4 cars like 81 shown here (ex-Stuttgart 673). I believe these trams have now all been replaced by Combinos in normal operation.

Siemens Combino Advanced #105

27 july 2004 - Nordhausen, Bahnhofsplatz. Meanwhile, back in the town centre, electric Combino 105 is serving Line 1. The connecting track to the Harzquerbahn is in the background.

Siemens Combino Duo #203

27 july 2004 - Ilfeld, Bahnhof. Dual Combino has travelled out from Nordhausen along the Harzquerbahn and here passes a conventional diesel railcar going in the opposite direction. The limit of Combino working is a short distance further along the line to Wernigerode.

Siemens Combino Duo #203

27 september 2006 - Nordhausen, Bahnhof. Running under the control of Nordhausen signal box (just visible by the bridge in the distance) Dual Combino 203 passes the semaphore signal that allows it to access the Harzquerbahn tracks towards Ilfeld. Not something you see every day – in fact, it may be unique.

Siemens Combino Advanced #106

27 july 2004 - Nordhausen, Bahnhofsplatz. Dual Combino 203 stands at the island platform alongside conventional Combino 106, which is serving one of the town routes. 203 is just switching to diesel mode before leaving for Ilfeld along the non-electrified track in the distance.

Siemens Combino Duo #203

23 august 2004 - Nordhausen, Germany. Inside a Combino Duo as it travels under diesel power, showing the engine enclosure. At Nordhausen Bahnhofsplatz, the engine will be turned off and the pantograph raised, so the tram can continue through the city streets - a procedure taking just a few seconds.

Siemens Combino Duo #203

23 august 2004 - Ilfeld, Germany – Bahnhof. A Siemens Combino Duo of Nordhausen tramways operating on the Harzquerbahn, nearly 10km from the nearest overhead wires. This ‘Nordhausener S-Bahn’ shows what can be achieved with dual-mode equipment, sharing railway infrastructure with conventional trains. Here, of course, the trains are both diesel and steam hauled.

Siemens Combino Duo #202

27 september 2006 - Nordhausen, Germany – Harzquerbahnhof. Combino Duo #202 picks its way carefully through the Harzquerbahn railway yards, running on diesel power under railway operating rules – even needing to obey the semaphore signals. The daily steam train from Nordhausen to Brocken, drawn by #99-7236-5, will soon depart and use the same single track as far as Ifeld.

Siemens Combino Duo #202

23 august 2004 - Nordhausen, Germany – Oskar-Kohn-Strasse. Since 2004, three dual mode (diesel/600v electric) Siemens Combinos have operated along an 11km stretch of the metre gauge Harzquerbahn from Nordhausen town centre to the village of Ilfeld. Combino Duo #202 is here seen leaving Nordhausen Bahnhofsplatz, running on diesel power along the non-electrified street track connection from the town tramways. First appearance of these dual mode trams on TWB.

ME GT4 #75

28 february 2004 - Nordhausen, Parkallee, plac odstawczy. A nuż alugripy popękają ;-)

Siemens Combino #104

28 february 2004 - Nordhausen, Bahnhofsplatz.
